Independence Day, celebrated every year on July 4, marks the birth of the United States as an independent nation. It commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, when the Continental Congress formally declared that the 13 Colonies were no longer under British rule.

As I drive around my community, I see many American Flags both small and large.

Flags stand tall at homes, businesses, and churches. American Flags are beautifully displayed yet they do not heal broken hearts. Flags do not hide strongholds. Are we expecting flags to do something only God can?

I see the excitement of American citizens today. I surmise today’s excitement does not compare to that of people who really lived in that era. History recounts slavery in some form throughout the ages. A need for transformative change started a faithful movement toward freedom.

Our nation’s ancestors experienced slavery and generational curses. After liberation from British rule, “Freed American Citizens” decided to continue the practice of slavery in “The United States of America”. However, they enslaved themselves.

It seems strange to have a name that signifies unity (United States) when now applied. Wrap your head around an enslaved person receiving freedom then enslaving other people. Understand that the only way repeated evil happens is through sin. Wherever a lack of faith exists, you will see sin.

America cannot have completed freedom if it continues to:

  • Accept generational curses
  •  Accept a lower standard of life against God’s thoughts and plans
  • Operate in hatred
  • Practice no forgiveness
  • Refuse to love one another
  • Reject the Word of God

Stop waving country flags for a moment. Do not allow the enemy to bind you up in prison chains by his law.

America are you an enslaved servant or free person made by the Son of God?
