I am connected to several prayer groups. We receive prayer request on behalf of people considering suicide. Some say this is a cry for help. Consider a person seeking attention instead of help.
The conversation about a person taking their lives can go many ways. Let us look one way. The person who puts the request into the chat – often has a panic spirit. They think if we do not hurry up and pray a person is going to die.
Every person has a will. Most people serious about suicide never discusses the matter – they just commit the act.
Consider The Jezebel Spirit trying to manipulate a situation. A man or woman killing themselves is not the worst thing a human can do. The very worst thing a person can do is to reject and rebel against God.
Rarely does the person requesting prayer on behalf of another – talk about salvation. They omit disclosure about salvation and accepting Christ. They say, “Oh just pray for brother or sister because they are headed in the wrong direction”. Any direction away from the Lord leads to a down hill experience.
I have seen many people come into church pretending they want help – but actually they want co-dependents. They want needs met. They do not want to change behavior or make sacrifices for better conditions.
My attitude toward some seemingly suicidal people is not empathetic. After I have discerned truth questions pop up.
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1 John 4:1
Have you accepted Christ as your personal Savior? Have you been immersed in water baptism? If you died today – do you know whether or not you would enter Heaven? If the answer is “Yes” to all question then the person must choose their own fate.
I wonder how a seemingly suicidal person would respond if I said, ” Well if I cannot talk you out of this act – then Jesus will be waiting for you in Heaven? Sometimes the truth sounds harsh. Pause before you panic.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 8:31-32
21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table. 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.
And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. Matthew 15:21-28
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. 11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. 12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. 13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee. Psalm 51:10-13
Most of the time people do not want death – instead they need to know someone cares. Tell people don’t take your lives. Jesus already gave His life in exchange for yours. Tell a suicidal person to “Pause before Panic”!
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:13
