The Madness of a King

When I finished writing this message – I heard the Lord say,

King Solomon was a well loved king because he honored God. He did not start his rulership by wanting to become rich and famous. Solomon didn’t try to resolve issues so he could win the Nobel Peace Prize. He didn’t force people to honor or worship his leadership. It wasn’t necessary for King Solomon to request large amounts of tax money from people. Instead, people lavished him with the finest gifts from all around the world. What a wonderful example for leaders to follow.

5 In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee. 6 And Solomon said, Thou hast shewed unto thy servant David my father great mercy, according as he walked before thee in truth, and in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with thee; and thou hast kept for him this great kindness, that thou hast given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. 7 And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in. 8 And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude. 9 Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people? 10 And the speech pleased the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; 12 Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. 13 And I have also given thee that which thou hast not asked, both riches, and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kings like unto thee all thy days. 14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days. 1 Kings 3:5-14

Look at our nation’s leaders today. Some are causing division and exclusion. Leaders are looking to become dominators and dictators over the world. Wars and power plays are in motion. People are rebelling against truth and righteousness. Rulers are making laws to break laws. And they are saying, “I am the king and can do whatever I please”.

1 A Psalm of David.
The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. 2 For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. 3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? Psalm 24:1-3

Didn’t God tell us men ought to always pray? Didn’t the Lord say pray without ceasing? What are citizens doing concerning God’s commands? Jesus died so men could have eternal life. World leaders are at the point of punishing people for breathing and speaking. Power plays among men make no contribution to eternal life. God has a plan and it is to walk the “Roman Road”.

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Romans 3:10

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Romans 3:23

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:9-13

Mad men are in the land. Folly is in the land. Trouble and turmoil are also in the land. With all the distractions going on in the world, let us not forget one other thing in the land – “Peace“. Grab, cling, and hold to Jesus precious gift. The Lord’s peace rules over the “Madness of Kings”.

The True King

11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Revelation 19:11-16
