“Humpy Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
All the king’s horses and all the king’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again”.
Some historians suggest Humpty Dumpty was King Richard of England – an overweight king with overweight problems. His biggest/overweight problem was his ego.
Richard was greedy, selfish, and relied on his position to influence others. History records King Richard as conniving and ruthless.
King Richard – was ultimately betrayed by Lord Thomas Stanley and his brother, Sir William Stanley. Who switched allegiance and attacked Richard’s forces at the Battle of Bosworth Field.
His reign was short – 1483 to 1485. He fell from power and died at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485.
Humpty Dumpty is not the Christian story. Nursery rhymes and riddles have no power to help believers walk the journey of faith.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
Maybe you experienced great falls in your life. Perhaps it seems like you still haven’t recovered. Choose your walls wisely. Falls need recovery time. Just know the people of God have an Advocate when we fall.
For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. Proverbs 24:16
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. Psalm 34:19
23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. Psalm 37:23-24
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 1 John 2:1
