Devil on the Pews

Satan comes to church to learn about his devilish ways. He listens and observes how the church studies his character.

9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
John 10:9-10 (KJV)

Satan is a faithful member – he arrives at church early and stays late. The devil wants to know how the church plans to attack on his behalf. This way he maps out his strategy and counterattack.

The devil is going to school in Christian Church. Anyone can recognize this creature. He carries a big backpack filled with Bibles, notepads, colored pens, highlighters, and a portable tablet. Satan eats and drinks in church. He passes out candy and gum.

3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God. 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (KJV)

He never looks up; his head is always down in one of the books he brought to church. He is afraid that if he looks up he might see light and truth.

O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. Psalm 43:3 (KJV)

NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 8:12 (KJV)

The devil volunteers for every serving opportunity in church. His goal is to attract leadership’s attention so his name has honorable mention. He pushes for power and position in the church.

For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Matthew 16:26 (KJV)

For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul? Job 27:8 (KJV)

Satan sits close to the front because he does not want to miss his camera shot. The devil asks people to take his picture at church – then he posts on every social media platform. Satan wants people to believe he is a worshiper.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:23-24 (KJV)

The devil studies church and people. His plan is to discover vulnerabilities and weaknesses. He looks for loopholes and flaws in church functionality.

He aims to become a great influencer – so he leads people from the church to his home Bible Study. The devil builds his brand inside the church. He works on distorting truth.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
John 8:44 (KJV)

32 And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. 33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. Daniel 11:32-33 (KJV)

Remember Satan tried to tempt Jesus in the wilderness with words from the Bible. Don’t follow a blind guide.

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. 7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Matthew 4:5-7 (KJV)

24 Ye blind guides, which strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel. 25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. 26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also. Matthew 23:24-26 (KJV)

Don’t follow the “Church Devil”. Anyone walking in darkness must submit to light.

4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. John 1:4-5 (KJV)

Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine. Job 18:5 (KJV)

The Christian believer’s job is to make disciples of others under the leadership of a “Pastor”.

Mentors – do not mistake your roles. Rebellion comes in the house when mentors try to be pastors.

22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king. 1 Samuel 15:22-23 (KJV)

  • Beware of people groups inside the church body
  • Beware lest you find yourself under two pastors in one church.
  • Beware of deception

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Matthew 24:11-12 (KJV)

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. Galatians 6:7 (KJV)

17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. 18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. Romans 16:17-18 (KJV)

Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you. Hebrews 13:17 (KJV)

19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: 20 teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Matthew 28:19-20 (ASV)
