Spiritual Health Over Outward Appearance

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. Matthew 23:27

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16

Can we look on the outward appearance of a person and decide their salvation?

Can we accurately determine a person’s culture, religion, or spiritual practices from the outside?

Many times a person’s outward does not match their inward.

If a person has a clean manicured yard, are we to expect the house to look the same?

Life must have a consistence balance. We are not to put an over abundance of care on the outside and neglect the needs of the inside.

The heart needs help as well as the head. A person can have a smile on the outside – but displays confusion, rejection, and a broken heart.

Remember, God is less concerned with the outside appearance. He judges the thoughts, motives, and intent of a person’s heart.

Your inside condition matters to God.
