Where are You Sleeping?

For I Heard the Lord Say

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Romans 13:11

The Lord is saying that Christians have been sleeping in the world instead of the secret place hidden in Him. Revenge is coming upon the sons and daughter of wrath we must not go to sleep on unprotected territory.

Many Christians have fallen into sinful lifestyles, which cause them to do things, which are truly unpleasing to the Lord.

Going to sleep in sin could prevent God’s hedge of protection from surrounding us

Hereby, the whole armor of God is not present.

Conversation with self, “Am I sleeping with heathens?”

When storms, tornados, natural disasters happen, and acts of war come, God’s people should not fall apart in fear.

In the aftermath of traumatic events, personal property and possessions are carried away and destroyed.

Certain events may be devastating but a Christian must remember faith. Believers must remember this world is not our home.

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:1-3

For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 1 Timothy 6:7

People of God Christian believers should not take up residence with unbelievers; it does not matter if they are your childhood friends, or the one who has always stood by you in a crisis. Whose report will you believe?

Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? 2 Corinthians 6:14

For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: Exodus 34:14

Showing loyalty in relationships must not consume who we are in Christ. A Christian’s first loyalty is to his Master and Savior, then to his Lord.

An unbelieving friend connected to a Christian believer is a constant reminder of the old man and how sin reigned in the mortal body.

This type relationship does not glorify God and seldom addresses the new man in Christ Jesus.

Unfold your thinking that is not forward progression and press into the power of God’s word.

Please understand that no matter how we may love a friend, family member, or associate; we cannot die for their sin and bring them into salvation.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Romans 6:12

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17

8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:8-10

Even though a believer may not think, they are committing an actual sin there are times when a person is caught in the line of fire.

I have heard of many stories where a bullet was intended for one person but an innocent bystander was shot instead.

While it is true one may never know when a stray bullet is coming we should not be sleeping in our walk and relationship with the Lord.

Christians should not be sleeping on God’s word and His promises.

Faith comes by hearing. If you are in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing, with the wrong person, can you say for a certainty that you can really hear God?

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! 16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:13-17
